Mimic Pro Beta - Summary of Skills learned
For the past two month I was placed in a simulation as a Digital Analyst for company called Buhi. I was task with improving the optics for their upcoming American Dream campaigns. The simulation was separated into rounds in which I had maximize key elements that range from conversion, revenue, and Clicks. The simulation was designed for me to put long-term strategies in place to grow a fictitious company’s landing pages and website traffic by optimize resources like data spreadsheets, display ads, keywords, negative keywords, and shopping ads. While the task were far from tedious, the analysis of data did provide me with a suitable direction to pursue in Buhi’s digital marketing strategy.
Mimic Pro Beta provided us with a series of scenario based rounds that were used to help teach and prepare us for today's digital world in a controlled environment. It specifically taught me how to write ad copy, create content, do keyword research, create landing pages, perform A/B testing , understand KPI's and how to optimize them, SEO optimization, and creating a email marketing campaign, all without actually wasting an organization's hard earned money. Each round provided me with a realistic result to the narrative of the choice I made and the very optimal consequences of my decisions.
The Mimic Pro Beta simulation was a great introduction to paid search advertising. Through this process you can experiment and begin to understand effective digital marketing techniques while playing with fictional money. My biggest take away from the course is the use of keywords and how they correlate to both the display ads and shopping and even the email campaigns. In order to better optimize my results I needed to use performance-driven keywords. When it comes to keywords, it is all about quality and not quantity.
A long list of keywords will not always guarantee you a high volume web traffic. I need to differentiate the best keywords for my ads to generate a desired high cpc, conversion, and total revenue . The keywords played a bigger role than I realized at the beginning of the simulation, but it is very much relevant to the product and service that wanted to advertise for the company. Ultimately, the simulation made me feel more comfortable exploring and optimize data, creating campaigns from scratch, adjusting direction and lastly finalizing decisions that best optimize the company. I would definitely recommend this simulation to those who want a hands on experience as well as first hand look on what it is like to be a digital marketer.
